The shortest way to prepare for the IIMC entrance is to brush up your general awareness for the last six months and develop the habit of writing on anything. You should be in the habit of writing at least 300 words daily. If you have never developed that habit, do it now at least for the next couple of weeks.
You choose the topic yourself or ask any of your friends to suggest a topic and then try to write on it.
IIMC entrance does not need a very broad understanding of anything. For instance, if there is a question on WTO, there is the likelyhood that you would be asked to write a short note on it and not a big essay. But if you are asked to write on your favourite TV show, it would possibly be an essay.
You should be aware of your area of interest on which you tend to specialise like business, politics, crime, sports etc. It is better that out of the given options you choose a topic in which you tend to make your career.
Also, ensure that there are no grammatical mistakes in your copy. Spelling errors are also taken in a very negative way. So, it is better to avoid writing such words, the spelling of which you are unsure about.
Suppose you have to write the word "punctual" but you are unsure about the spelling then the better idea would be to write "on time" in place of that word. For avoiding any grammatical errors the best way is to stick to simple and short sentences.
Making the copy flowery does not help much, instead points are awarded for economy of words. Do not write anything just for the sake of filling the white space. Substantiate everything with logic.
Best of all, take the test as easy as possible. Keep reading newspapers like TOI, HT, Hindu or IE. It is advisable if you read at least two papers. But is is not mandatory. I was reading only TOI, still managed to qualify without much effort.
