A Tip for the aspirants...

What to read

The entrance exam is approaching and students must be wondering how to prepare for it.

I am just giving some suggestions that students must keep in mind before taking test.

Scan the Newspaper of past six months:

Always remember if you read atleast one newspaper regularly, You do not require any extra preparation. The IIMC enterance exam just test the awareness level of the aspirants. Most of the questions are related to the important national and international events, incidents and developments that have caught media attention.

It can be national issues like OBC quota issue (especially how media has covered it) or the sethusamudram controversy, or loan waiver of farmer, or the environmental issue like climate change or IPL or 20-20 cricket or inflation

Also questions are generally asked on the books and personalities who have been in news, like Advani's autobiography that generated much controversy or Sarcozy- carla bruni affair

Follow what has happened on the international front like Maoist win in Nepal election or the US presidential poll or end of Fidel castro's reign in Cuba.

Also follow closely how different TV channels and print media are presenting the news.

How to write

While writing your answers make it sure that your answer do not reflect your personal bias.

Try to be as objective as you can. Avoid subjectivity in your answers. Also logically substantiate your points with apt examples.

Also your answers should be compact and easy read. Revise your answers thoroughly. Avoid very complicated and high sounding words. Avoid repititions

When you are writing your answers follow the "inverted Pyramid style" which is most important points should be put on the top.

Follow the word limit strictly. Try to write as compact answer as possible.

Also your introducing paragraph must be simple and catchy as it attracts the attention of the examiner.

Hope you will benefit from these tips.

All the best...
