Tips to crack the entrance examination for Advertising & PR

Firstly, let me honestly clear some myths about the exam.
It is an exam where last minute preparation doesn't really help you. So if you think that you read all the newspapers, magazines and get through, chances are slim of you getting through.
Please start reading brand related articles in magazine, newspapers and internet as early as you can.
Secondly, the examination is not only about advertisements and which ones you like/ dislike.
You would be expected to know has been the impact of advertisements on consumers; what could have been the thinking behind making an ad like that etc.
And also a bit about the happenings in the business world.

Now to the main things to keep in mind for the test –
The total number of marks which you all will be fighting for is 100 marks.
85 marks are for the written examination and the rest 15 for the GD (Group Discussion) and Interview.
So it becomes essential that you do extremely well in the written so that your chances are brighter to get through.
The written and the GD/ Interview are not mutually exclusive.

The written examination is for 2 hours; hence the time you have is extremely limited. The questions are subjective, so needs you to think and have a point of view.

Please do not write very long answers questions because you will not be able to finish the exam in time.
Try to finish the all the questions first and then come back to any question you feel needs more explanation.

The GD/ Interview is taken by senior advertising and marketing professionals, so please be careful in which way you articulate yourself.
The topic for the GD would be related to current affairs or advertising.

The interview can go to any dimension depending upon your academic qualifications and hobbies/ activities you are active in.

There is not much stress on previous academic records so chill if you do to have great marks!

Last but not the least; be confident of what you are and if you are good you will get definitely get through.

Best of Luck !!!

hello sir!
i was studying a different course right after 12th but i realized that it wasn't quite the thing that i wanted to do,but the realization hit a little too late.so i took a break and changed my course.so basically what i wanted to know is that,i have a significant gap between my passing year of 12th grade and the year i got into the new course.could that gap be a deciding factor of whether i will get into iimc or not??
can my application be rejected even before i get the chance to give the entrance exam solely on the basis of that gap?
i know for sure that if my application gets through,i'll make it.
please help me,i am very stressed and confused about this.

Hello there!
I am appearing for the 2014 entrance test. The previous year I appeared for Xavier's ADPR but couldn't clear it. The biggest hurdle I came across was I did not understand the questions and the expected answers. If a question is based on creating an advertisement, should we express in an essay format? Or is there any standard format for the same?
