Getting into IIMC is always a dream for all communicators. It somehow completes an essential criterion of you being a communicator but again you need to learn from yourself. It’s all about putting things into your plate but at the end of the day you had to eat of your own. There is no rocket science for getting into IIMC. It’s all about how you pen down your thoughts into a sheet at the time when you are sitting in examination hall. Mind you competition is very high but don’t know about the standards.

My experience says that it’s all about small things which you notice on daily basis. Reading more and more and basic understanding of what you read is more important. Read newspapers, magazines, learn examples, quote examples, try to extract WHY factor. Put an argument and give examples to support your argument, remember the examples have to be actual and not any supposition or you heard something, and quote the references.

It’s not that you had to write in very sophisticated language but yeah keep yourself simple and soft which can be easily understood by a layman also. Extract data and try to analyze it with suitable examples.  Try to be active on social media as the trend is shifting on web site now, you have to think more strategically, random thoughts can work only when you are writing for an advertisement but only that does not solve your purpose.

For ADPR you had to pick up small and common things, try to interact with people, share your ideas, and refer to sites like afaqs.com, exchange4media.com for hard core subject related update. Watch news shows, infotainment programs and the so called family oriented daily soaps. Every show gives you a hidden insight; every TV commercial has a hidden and clear agenda. Try to ask WHY and answer them yourself, pen down things and rework them. Somehow, the 6months old hot topics are the key players. Be a good and patient listener and keep your mind cool and calm. Keep in mind that what is the message, who is the mass & what is the medium.

There is nothing like instant coffee, take a step by step approach and be at the top. The life at IIMC is fun and learn out of fun. And yes, the last is Never Give-up.
