ADPR: How original you are...?

What ever i am writing is my experience in IIMC entrance test.

IIMC entrance test is not just like a entrance test, but it test how different you are, how innovative and creative – simply how original are you.

Last few year trends shows that pattern of entrance test keeps on changing. I Have gone through entrance twice. 1st time it just what kind of test it is with 80% GK and 20% others, but 2nd time it was opposite with 20:80 ratio.

GK is not like 1800BC history, freedom fight, surprising science terms, or some strange geography.

But it's the mix of recent national and international events, which effected media either advertising or journalism. Recent means last 6 month or so. How will you answer them?

Let me clear, don't thing more words or pages results in good marks, but its how well you understand the problem, how it effected national & international scenario, and what is your expected solution for the same. This section will contribute almost 40% of the test paper, rest is general knowledge like books, current economic situation, who is what, media updates etc.

My 2nd attempt was pure advertising for eg. Script writing for ads, which ad do you liked most, why and what improvement can be done. Last time there was question which is something like that – around 10 words are given, and now explain them in one line, not the meaning but what you think about that word. It was good and interesting thing I had seen.

IIMC Is known for quality education, great batches & career focus attitude (students or Professors). So as its Entrance Test. Nothing comes out of the word which you never faced in your life.

Suggestions to all people appearing for the test, is be confident, write what you think, don't try over writing & simply be original.

Second Step of the Admission process is Group Discussion. Around 7 to 8 people in a group selected randomly, topic given can be economic issues, social, national & International issues. Last time it was a social issue.

Take your time don't blame anyone, try to explain the issue how its effected & what will be the Solution. Don't argue with your group, Take one side Agree or disagree & in end summarize yourself.

Final Round is a personal Interview, sitting in front of three to four professionals, industry experts, it is quiet nervous situation. But don't lose yourself, be confident, cool & don't be over smart because the people sitting in front of you are smarter than you.

IIMC look for creative people, who can think out of box. So just try to be different, easy & please don't take it as your graduation exam more copy more marks. Simply NO.

IIMC is a Great place, successful Career, quality Education, best infrastructure & focused people. I assure you, you will miss those nine months.

Year by Year people applying for IIMC is increasing. It's a No 1 institute in its GENRE. I don't know what will be numbers this time but surely more than last year.

Best of Luck to All.

OK, IIMC not expect you to be professionaly strong in first time, but what they need is the flow.Dont just write the story, add some life to the story - Simple.
U can narrate the story line with dialogues if possible visuals for TV(sketch of few scenes).Like use half of the page for story and 2nd half for dialogues and sketch.
For radio try to ad sound effects(what sounds u want to use),its a non visual medium,so no need for visuals.
And for print u need to draw you idea, not perfectly, it can be rough sketch also.

I hope its good enough for you.
Best Of luck...............
