Read News, Analyse News, Keep yourself abreast

Tanvi Sharma of RTV department (2005-06) is Assistant Reporter/ Researcher with the Los Angeles Times in New Delhi. Before moving to LAT Tanvi worked with NDTV.

I appeared for the test in 2005, the memories are fading as to what exactly the questions were, but surprisingly I knew everything on the question paper. The test was easy and tested the candidate's writing skills and current affairs.

The interview was simpler than the test since the panel only checks if the course in question falls in place with the candidate's aptitude and future goals while having him/her speak about life and aspirations.

News, its audience and the treatment of news is changing with every passing day. It would be hard to say what to expect from the question paper. However I believe, since the very time you decide to be a journalist, knowingly or unknowingly you start preparing for it, you become more aware, you read, you analyse. This is the only key to crack the entrance, Read News, Analyse News, just keep yourself abreast!

The mantra to clear RTV entrance exam: Just be on top of the news.

Have fun while appearing for the test and once through, beware you will make friends for a lifetime.

All the best…
Tanvi Sharma
