Hi Aspirants! I understand the anxiety you must be going through these days after all it’s a crucial moment of your life i.e. getting selected into an institute which is considered by far the best. But friends chill. There’s nothing much to be tensed about the entrance exams. Your confidence and optimistic attitude can get you where you want to.

IIMC entrance exam is just like any other entrance exams where your writing skills along with your knowledge about current affairs will be tested. As far as my exams were concerned, I had prepared myself by following few newspapers and watching news channels. Also, I had referred to Manorama Year Book which no doubt helped me a lot to keep myself updated about the news and events of the year which somehow I missed when those were on air.

Well for you to be confident and hopeful about getting through the entrance, I would suggest you to read about the current affairs as much as you can. Your knowledge about what is happening around you is most important while cracking such exams. By that I mean the events taking place that are being highlighted by the media and are a matter of concern. Try to follow news on a regular basis. Watch debate shows, try to understand the subject and go for in-depth news. Just turning the pages of the newspapers or reading the headlines won’t fetch you more scores.

As far as the written test paper is concerned, the paper is likely to be analytical as well as descriptive. It would also contain a section where you would be asked about few personalities from different arenas. Keep yourself updated about the personalities who were recently in news. This section alone can help you score much.

Once you have the paper in front of you, give it a thorough reading. Read each of the questions properly and understand what has been asked to answer. Don’t be in a hurry to jump to other questions. You would find questions from various arenas which might include politics, business, sports, economics, page 3 stuffs etc.

Be informed about the burning issues. Look out for the events that took place in the past few months that has attracted the attention of the media and in turn the people. For you knowing smalls details about the General Election this year might be helpful. Not just that but also make sure you are aware of the role of social media which again is much in news these days. Do not just follow a single newspaper. Read more and more to be abreast of the latest happenings.

While writing your paper, you might find it lengthy and or time consuming. So, prepare yourself in such a way that you write in speed without missing on the main points. Do not write history in order to impress the examiner. Use simple and crisp language and write to the point answers. Once done with that make sure you give your paper a last look. If time permits see that you go through what you have written. Often in such situations, students tend up to panic and miss out on important points.

I hope the suggestions would help you achieve your target. So, be at your best, don’t over-think, keep it simple and act. Hope you get there!

Best wishes IIMC aspirants!
