Dear Aspirants,
I would try to keep my tips crisp as brevity is what you need when you attempt the exam and when you join the industry.

Believe me, cracking IIMC entrance exam for journalism courses isn’t rocket science. All that you must keep in mind are these three things: Be updated, keep your language simple and crisp and never forget to be confident.

Well, keeping oneself abreast with news and current affairs isn’t a day’s task. It’s something you ought to practise daily. It, therefore, requires prior preparation; I mean, reading at least four newspapers religiously months before you appear for the exam. Having thorough knowledge on any subject helps you with subjective-type questions. If you are armed with facts and figures, it would help you substantiate your answers. For example, any question about general elections would be a cakewalk if you have all your facts on place. Boost you knowledge by reading more magazines and watching news channels.

Let’s come to the second point. Crisp, clear and simple language is a must for this is what would count when you take a plunge into media industry. Not to mention, correct grammar is imperative. The more you express in minimum words, the better. Avoid flowery language as it’s not going to impress the examiner. Make sure you write your answer in a flow.

And what matters the most at the end is right attitude. Panic not and be confident. Keep a positive mindset and keep calm when you get the question paper. Give a thorough read first and attempt according to your convenience so that you finish the exam in the given time without missing any question. I suggest you all plan your preparations according to previous years’ question papers. Do everything to boost your confidence and what could help you more than a thorough and well-planned preparation?

So here are my wishes. Good luck and I await talented juniors.
